Exterior view of Pri-Fly.  Primary Flight Control (Pri-Fly) is located on the aft of the island, and is the center of air operations aboard the carrier.  Its wraparound Plexiglas windows provide the air boss and his staff with a commanding view of the entire flight deck.  This view of Pri-Fly was taken from Vulture's Row, the outdoor observer's platform located a deck below Pri-Fly.

Perch of the Air Boss.  Air operations officer's chair in Pri-Fly, which in the summer months has the climate of a Plexiglas greenhouse.  Pri-Fly's various consoles give the air ops staff access to all of the radios and ship's communications systems, flight deck lighting, and other systems critical to launch and recovery of the air wing's aircraft.

Who's airborne?  Flight status board, mounted on the bulkhead opposite the air boss's seat.  This table, manually updated with a grease pencil, gives the air boss an at-a-glance status report on the critical variables for the sorties taking place in and around Hornet.  Fuel state and nearest alternative landing sites are prominent among the air boss's list of things to worry about.
